TRAVEL

We at Lamborn Vision School are so looking forward to this year’s conference. Flight information follows:

The two closest airports to Paonia are in Grand Junction Regional Airport (70 miles) and Montrose Regional Airport (50 miles). We will provide a driver with a van to be at the Grand Junction Airport on Thursday, May 15 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 pm. Most arriving flights throughout weekdays land between those hours. We will have a driver available at the Montrose airport between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. We will need to know your specific flight plans and if possible, cell phone numbers. Make a note: Our drivers may be contacted on the following cell phone numbers: 970 270-4156 or 970 683-0073. Keep this data with you.

If you are driving, there are two possible routes after you cross the mountains on I-70, equally distant from Paonia:
  • You may take the Carbondale/Aspen exit out of Glenwood Springs and travel east toward Aspen. Once in Carbondale, at a traffic light that turns into the town, turn onto Hwy 133 and travel over McClure Pass. Paonia has three entrances. Turn left at the entrance that is across from the Stop N Save gas station. Go to the 4-way stop (couple of blocks). Turn left and follow the curve up to the right (along side Peppers). Just at the far end of the town park, hook left and go on around curve to the right that will put you on Black Bridge Road. Follow the road across the train track to the stucco building right across the track again on the left. This is the Old River Road Trading Post. Just look for any one around.
  • If you are totally tired of driving mountain passes, just go through Glenwood Springs and take Grand Junction exit to the west. Stay on I-70 all the way to the Clifton exit. This exit will put you on 32 Road/Highway 144. Drive to the second traffic light and turn left onto a small overpass. Continue down Hwy 144 through town till you reach Hwy 6-50 (a t-bone). You will have to make a turn here. Go left and follow the highway about 35 miles into Delta. At the second traffic light, across from lots of fast food restaurants, turn left onto Hwy 92. Follow the road all the way through Hotchkiss, but just before you get to the City Market on the right, there will be a highway convergence. Keep bearing to the left, which will merge into Hwy 133. Paonia is another 9 miles. Turn right at the entrance that is across from the Stop N Save gas station. Go to the 4-way stop (couple of blocks). Turn left and follow the curve up to the right (along side Peppers). Just at the far end of the town park, hook left, go on around curve to the right which will put you on Black Bridge Road. Follow the road across the train track to the stucco building right across the track again on the left. This is the Old River Road Trading Post. Just look for any one around.

CAMPING

Campers need to know there is a severe limitation on availability of showers. There is a good bit of sleeping bag room in the concert hall and in an adjoining house. And then there is the great outdoors! A tent for cooking all meals will be set up and cooks provided for vegetarian meals. Also, there are several good restaurants in town and we can provide you with a guide. The on-site meals are included in your registration fee.
